Know what the planning example includes
This calculator illustrates an Oklahoma-area planning scenario for architectural asphalt shingles. It supports 1,500 to 3,000 square feet of measured roof surface, with normal access, moderate complexity, one existing layer and usable decking.
The model uses $4.50 to $7.50 per square foot of roof surface and includes ordinary tear-off. It excludes extra layers, damaged wood and separate trade work. The result is a planning example, not a price for your property.

Explore an architectural-shingle roof budget
Use known roof surface area or a roof footprint with the example pitch. Living space is not the same measurement as roof area.
Keep the 2,000 sq. ft. example, or enter an area you already know. Roof footprint means the area covered, not total living space.
Keep the 6:12 example unless you already know the pitch. Pitch helps check material suitability.
Planning budget example

Scope and limits of this planning example
This model covers architectural asphalt shingles on 1,500 to 3,000 square feet of actual roof surface. The roof footprint input is converted using the selected pitch, and that converted surface must remain within the supported range.
The planning rates are $4.50 to $7.50 per square foot of roof surface. Ordinary tear-off of one existing layer is included. Normal access, moderate complexity and usable decking are assumed. Extra layers, damaged decking and separate trade work are excluded.
These Oklahoma-area research inputs are a defined scenario, not an independent market survey, contractor quote or price promise. Metal, low-slope and commercial systems are outside this model.
Why a roof price changes
- Shape and access
Multiple roof levels, steep slopes, valleys, confined access and elaborate flashing affect labor and material. The model assumes moderate complexity and normal access.
- Hidden work
Damaged decking, additional layers, concealed flashing problems and separate trades need property-specific pricing. The model does not add an invented allowance.
- Other systems
Metal roofs, commercial membranes, coatings and low-slope systems need their own scope and price. This tool contains one supported material scenario.
